Building Backlinks for Your Website
Before we begin talking about building backlinks, let me advise you that when you build websites, make sure you Anchor Text your link! For example: Nawny.com is about earning money and building websites. Instead of putting a link that says <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" href="http ://www.nawny.com">Nawny.com</a> I would put <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" href="http ://www.nawny.com">Earning Money Online</a>. This is where the keywords you are targeting are the text in the link. This is very important!
A Backlink is when there is a link to your website from another website. Building backlinks can be a diligent, tedious task. There are some services that do an automatic link exchange for free, and others that are not free. You can also build backlinks by commenting on blogs or asking webmasters if they will be kind enough to place a link on their site.
LinkTradeExchange.com is a free service that will automatically trade links for you with about 350 other websites. You must put a code on your own website so that other website links will be displayed. AutomaticBacklinks.com is a free service that also trades your link automatically. The difference with "AB" is that your website must be a pagerank of 1 or greater in order to receive free backlinks. The way it works is they base your website on pagerank, and when you display other website's links, you get points. The higher your pagerank, the more points you get. Once you have points built up, you can begin "spending" your points and start receiving backlinks. If you do not have a website that is atleast 1 pagerank, you can pay to receive backlinks.
Commenting on blogs to receive backlinks is free, and can take up time. Backlinks from blogs that are relevant to your website are much more valuable than just random blogs. If you start building links on blogs, make sure you atleast read some of the blog and make a relevant comment. I actually monitor blog comments that I receive, and a lot of them are just general statements that have nothing to do with what I wrote. Also, under the part where you input your name, DO NOT USE YOUR NAME. Referring back to the Anchor text in the beginning of this article, you need to input keywords that you are targeting in the "Name Field". The name field is the text that is displayed for the link, so you must put your keywords in there instead of your actual name.
You can also ask webmasters to add your link to their website. This is a little time consuming, but some webmasters will actually agree. I would note that if you do this, don't waste your time on sites that have little to no traffic, and no pagerank.
