The Speedier and More Powerful Sony Ericsson Xperia X2

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 is the eagerly-awaited successor to the Xperia X1 and although this model isn’t slated for release until possibly early 2010 and no word on pricing details as yet, it is already being discussed extensively amongst Sony Ericsson fans and industry watchers alike.  From the leaked specifications, it would appear that the Xperia X2 will be a more powerful and speedier phone compared to the X1 in terms of performance.  Rumour has it that the processor on this version will be faster than the 528MHz unit found on the X1.  It will also allegedly have 512MB of RAM as well as a Qualcomm chipset.
Panel technology has also been enhanced on the X2 with PS3 gaming functionality as one of the improvements.  Panels allow for homescreen customization and you can choose from nine variants to match your style or mood.  It was quite a fun feature on the X1 and many mobile users enjoyed screens that showcased designs ranging from Facebook to CNN.
This device will also run on the Windows Mobile version 6.5 operating system, upgradeable to Windows Mobile 7 once that platform version becomes available.  The X2 is 3G capable with support from the HSDPA and HSUPA networks.  Connectivity is further extended by way of WiFi, Bluetooth as well as USB 2.0.  Sony Ericsson has also incorporated a GPS receiver into this mobile with A-GPS support to be expected.
The Xperia X2 features a slide out QWERTY keyboard similar to the X1 and its touchscreen display boasts of WVGA OLED technology.  There is an accelerometer incorporated into the screen which should enable the phone to rotate accordingly as users change the direction in which it is held.
As far as multimedia is concerned, the X2 sports an 8.1 megapixel snapper with autofocus and digital zoom functions.  Video and music playback is possible on this phone offering users a variety of media codecs to enjoy on their devices.  As an alternative option, there is also an integrated FM radio.
Microsoft Exchange is incorporated so collaborations about work and personal life are pretty much covered.  You will find organizational tools such as a calendar, notes and to-do lists to name some.
