Believe it or not, I went back four, yes four TV, before finally deciding on this. I am absolutely thrilled with it. After extensive research and learning that the market share fell to a historic low plasma that Vizio and Pioneer plasma completely abandoned, and have an image burned in my Panasonic Plasma (that's dirty little secret of the plasma If you do not believe me, google!) screen two days after I bought it, groped for an LED that Sharp was a piece of garbage to be completely honest, and 2 different Samsung LCD, I went for it.
Yes, it was expensive but definitely worth it! For starters, blacks are so much better than a standard LCD and Plasma rival, that was all plasma used to have bragging rights (along with a better view angles that Plasma still has a slight edge. Plasmas supposed right brag about 600 Hz processing are dumb - when you are up to 240Hz motion blur is long gone by then) Secondly, the brightness is amazing, and the crispness is unsurpassed by Standard LCD or Plasma. I saw Transformers on Blu Ray II is shown in this TV hhgregg and all I can say is that was washed away. I've seen side by side next to a standard Samsung LCD and the difference was significant. If you are a videophile, this TV is a must.
I have an unlimited budget, so I went with this model. The models were higher processing 240 Hz, which according to research I've read, it is not obvious if you do not come into play and I'm not a player. If you want the latest and greatest, will not be disappointed with this series. The chassis ROCKS! So thin and sleak and the touch of color is very pleasing to the eye. I believe that I can not say enough good things. Samsung has once again demonstrated why they have 52% market share. This is not a coincidence!
UN55B7000 Samsung - Great TV But Not Perfect
I had the TV for about a week and have been tweaking the picture and I think I have right for my needs ... out of the box the contrast / brightness are very high, which is ok for day vision, but at night you can really see the backlight bleeding especially in the corners, you can adjust the backlight level using the / contrast / brightness and TV features arrangements to save this IE: Movie, Natural, Standard, etc. ... so that when you are ready to watch a movie at night I set my movies backlight setting down and low contrast and can barely see the backlight. Even sitting position makes a big difference to the light, if you're sitting in front is seen against the very least.
During the day you can not see the backlight so its a big problem. The picture is awesome, very good color and clarity is amazing, I'm rewatching all my movies now just to see what I miss, 120Hz makes a huge difference, makes films look so real that almost look "fake", the wife does not like the effect 120Hz but I do. I'm running away Denon 2310ci video upgrade the HD signal so you do not have problems with SD TV looks good (depending on the channel) and I have a PC connected to media center and it looks amazing about this TV, but I do not could higher resolution (1920) to fit the screen properly so I had to step down once. I can not comment on because I'm using sound speaker wall speaker craft. The only thing I hate is that the plastic around the TV scratches very easily, even using towels a powder soft static. Overall a great TV and it looks beautiful.
Pros:
- Clarity, the colors are amazing
- Very light considering the size TV, but you need 2 people to hang up because its so big
- Easy to navigate menus
Cons:
- Backlight is annoying need to adjust the box
- Clear plastic around TV scratches easily using a paper napkin or towel static dust, you should use microfiber cloth.
